1. Hike to a waterfall in the Smoky Mountains.

laurel fallsGet out and up close with nature by taking a waterfall hike! Tourist favorites include Abrams Falls and Cataract Falls, both relatively easy hikes or the two popular moderate trails to Laurel Falls and Rainbow Falls. Along the Roaring Fork Motor Trail are two opportunities to admire gorgeous waterfalls– Grotto Falls, which is accessible by the Trillium Gap Trail, and the Place of a Thousand Drips, which is actually visible from your vehicle!

2. Go to Anakeesta’s Astra Lumina night walk.

Walk among the stars at Anakeesta! Atra Lumina is the very first of its kind in the U.S. and features a celestial pathway of incredible light, projection, and sound displays. The night will truly come alive and be a sparkling, enchanting experience you’ll never forget! If you’re already thinking about spending time at Anakeesta during the day, you can add Astra Lumina tickets for a combo ticket discount; plus, those with an annual pass to Anakeesta automatically get 20% off their Astra Lumina tickets!

3. Drive to the Gatlinburg Scenic Overlook.

It’s also one of the most underrated romantic things to do in Gatlinburg since you get to spend one on one time with your significant other and simply enjoy each other’s company! We recommend driving along the Gatlinburg Bypass, where you’ll come to a phenomenal scenic overlook that has some of the best views of all of Gatlinburg. It’s beautiful any time of year, but probably one of the most popular spots to admire the fall foliage!

4. Shop along the Gatlinburg Arts and Crafts Community.

From pottery and ceramics to woodworking and one-of-a-kind art pieces, you won’t be disappointed in the selection and quality of items. You can even attend workshops and speak with the craftsmen about their trade, making your purchases even more meaningful.

5. Walk across the SkyBridge.

Gatlinburg’s SkyPark is a must for any couple wanting to enjoy fantastic views of the Smokies, but the Skybridge, in particular, is equal parts thrilling and awe-inspiring. It’s the longest pedestrian cable bridge in North America! Don’t miss the opportunity to walk 500 feet above Gatlinburg across a nearly 700-foot valley (that’s longer than 2 football fields!). Afterward, relax at the SkyDeck and look out over Gatlinburg. You can even get a snack or drink to enjoy and spend as much time as you like soaking up the natural beauty of the mountains.
